Final

 What I chose to do for my final was create an album cover sample for my friends metal band. They won't use it I'm sure, but it was just to get their ideas going. I have wanted to create album covers for a long time and this was the perfect time to get going on one. I'm quite happy with how it turned out and its atmosphere it gives off.

Greg Dickerson: Mixed Media Art

Greg Dickerson's work really jumped out at me. Not only do i love the random swatches of fabric thrown onto the canvas with dramatic smears of paints. But i love the idea behind his work. From what i understand, he uses random memories as a theme ( a child's first blanket,part of a wedding dress,etc) And builds around it. There are so many ways to view his work and so many ideas going on, that is is so visually appealing and enticing. At times it is hard to read, but once you get an understanding of its meaning, you get  a entire different view and understanding of it. His art makes you think and has strong meaning. It freezes a point in time and builds a piece around it, making it such a strong and interesting piece to look at.

Foshay tower designs

I was trying to find a really old version of the foshay tower to

put the image with the date. Seeing it was 1929 it was naturally

in black and white and it reminded me of the really old Godzilla

film .So i combined images and threw together some effects

to give it that old vintage feel.

I also had godzilla be smaller then the Foshay Tower

to emphasize its tall height.

I have recently changed my reading literature from vampires to fairy's , since EVERYONE now loves vampires due to the popular Twilight series ,my goal was to make something original .

This image is greatly inspired by fairy literature.I was fascinated by the idea of their courts Winter,Summer,Dark,Water etc. But Winter mostly stood out to me in its frigid beauty.I was taken by one character particularly,the winter queen,and wish she appeared in the books as more of a main character.

I imagine her to be beautifully frightening and dead looking(much like winter)

so i used the image of an alternative model that i felt met the description.

I really wanted to give off a dark "Tim  Burton" atmosphere that is commonly used in fantasy book covers and art.

I did this by changing alot of colors ,saturation,opacity and burning tool .

 

Words to live by

I made this image to represent being yourself and not caring how others may judge you.

I chose this image because the girl looks a bit upset looking in the mirror with her radical clothing. It looks as if she had just heard people talking about her and now feeling bad about herself.I added the quote as a reminder to remember who you are and not to care as long as you are okay with yourself.

I did some editing to the photo to give it a more vintage feel.

I love bold red accents on the grey scale so that is the reason for my color choice on the text.I wanted it to stand out rather then be written in black or white.

Movie poster critique

I don't like this movie poster because it just is lacking information.Its too dark to the point were you can't hardly see the images in the back.It gives no clue to what time period it is in,the faces of the actors what the story could possibly be about.Its just simply visually unappealing .

This poster however is visually striking .The darker colors give a interesting mysterious  feel.You can tell the entire story is about the Little girl in the chair and make you want to know more about the story.It gives a curious atmosphere that captures your interest.Even the beautiful font of the letters draws you in.

about me..

So my mind is pretty much filled with ideas all the time. I'm really into art of all mediums and i find inspiration from the most random things. I Travel a lot which helps with that .I've seen alot of places and am sick of Minnesota to be quite honest. I love the city.I really want to see Tokyo,Japan.London is amazing, i visited London earlier this summer and absolutely fell in love with it.Ideas and fashion are everywhere and it is such an inspirational city. I love how you can be whoever you want there and no one gives you a second glance.I'm really into self expression and living adventurously i guess you could say .I do enjoy the city's that we do have here and paint and draw at the parks as much as i can . Don't get me wrong Minnesota is beautiful, but its just a bit too small for my liking .In ways I'm adventurous and in ways I'm down right boring and keep to myself. I sleep way to much for someone my age , if i lived on elm street Freddie Kruger would easily have me dead. I enjoy dreaming,it's more interesting than whats going on in the real world i guess.My intense imagination follows me in real life at times and gets me into trouble with my constant daydreaming and jotting down random ideas for writing or drawings during work or classes. Reading is my other escape from reality .I love how i can just pick up a book and get lost in another world.I guess you could say I'm such a nerd! But I'm OK with that =^.^=
Music is another huge interest of mine and defines alot of who i am. Instead of going out and partying like most people ,I'd rather be at a small music venue watching bands. I really just am in love with the music world.Its so exciting to see that band you have listened to so much in your car, rite there in front of you.I love the loudness and energy of the atmosphere at music festivals and shows. Its just amazing

As an artist I'm into drawing,painting,photography,designing,fashion designing,and so on. My work is more illustrative,fantasy,dark,enchanting,and in other words ,a bit odd.I love Alice in wonderland and get alot of inspiration from it. Anything impossible is of interest to me.The images on my blog are all my own and each hold a story. I hope you enjoy them and the more works that are soon to come ^_^
